RNO To Invest $500M In Two Concourses

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority board has approved a $500 million plan to build two new concourses at Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO). The announcement came Thursday, the same day RNO broke ground on its ticketing hall expansion project. The MoreRNO concourse build represents the largest investment in the airport’s history.

“This is more than a great day for our airport, it’s a transformational time for our region,” said Adam Kramer, RTAA Board Chairman. “The gateway to Reno-Tahoe is being re-imagined and rebuilt for the next century. We are making the first and last impression on travelers better than it’s ever been before.”

Two new concourses will not only improve the experience for passengers, but also provide a better atmosphere for airlines, tenants and employees. Combined, the two concourses will house 28 new gates.

“This investment in northern Nevada is not something we can do alone, and I can’t express enough the importance of the partnership with our airlines and elected officials, and the dedication of our Board and employees,” said Daren Griffin, RTAA CEO. “This shows the commitment to air service in the Reno- Tahoe region.”

MoreRNO will be partially funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). “BIL’s aim is to increase capacity and passenger access, replace aging infrastructure, improve energy efficiency and airfield safety, encourage competition and provide good paying jobs,” said Griffin.

The ticketing hall project that broke ground today, also part of the MoreRNO overall project, is a $32 million project that will expand the facility and add windows, art and new technology to enhance the passenger experience. The MoreRNO project also includes roadway improvements, a new consolidated car rental facility and parking garage expansion, a new terminal entry and exit, and a remodel of the terminal mezzanine.
