Tsakos Rejoins PHL

The Philadelphia Department of Aviation, operator of Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Northeast Philadelphia Airport (PNE), has named Konstantinos “Gus” Tsakos as its deputy director of internal audit and compliance.

Tsakos comes to PHL after serving as deputy executive director for the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority (PICA), a state oversight agency for the city of Philadelphia, responsible for reviewing and considering the city’s annual five year financial and strategic plan. Prior to PICA, Tsakos served as deputy director for finance for the city’s aviation department.

In his new role, Tsakos will lead a team of auditors responsible for annually complying with federal mandated audit requirements, ensuring vendor and concessionaire contract compliance, and conducting internal control reviews of airport operations.

“We are thrilled to have Gus back at the airports,” said Tracy Borda, PHL chief financial officer. “He has extensive experience conducting a variety of audits will be a great asset as the airport continues its post-COVID-19 recovery.”
