PBI Begins Concourse B Expansion

Palm Beach International (PBI) announced the start of a multi-million-dollar expansion of Concourse B as a key part of an on-going phased modernization program for the airport.

The overhaul of Concourse B will include new terrazzo flooring and carpeting; expanded holdrooms and restrooms with modern features, and elevated ceiling heights in new build-out area combined with electrochromic glass to reduce heat and glare in key passenger areas.

The Concourse B expansion also includes new restaurant spaces, though temporary food and beverage venues will operate during portions of the construction period. It also features an integrated nursing suite to replace free-standing Mamava pods, a sensory room, adult changing tables to accommodate needs of disabled passengers and their caregivers and additional passenger boarding bridges, extension of existing building systems.

“We are excited to begin to refresh Concourse B so that it has the same modern, welcoming atmosphere as the ticketing and baggage claim areas,” said Laura Beebe, director of airports. “Our goal is to provide our passengers with an easy, convenient and less stressful travel experience, and these renovations will deliver that and more.”
