Stakeholders in the New Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport shared ACDBE concessions opportunities in a recent outreach event.
Alex Solomon, director of leasing for Unibail Rodamco Westfield gave participants an overview of the upcoming opportunities. “We are creating a world class experience at New Terminal One,” he said in the webinar. “With that we have 160,000 square feet of brand new commercial space from F&B to retail to lounge spaces. Phase A is slated to open in June of 2026. I think the big things to note are the minimum 30% ACDBE participation, which is amazing, and then also the $225 million-plus that we’re putting into the Phase A spaces for our tenants.”
Opportunities for certified ACDBE operators include:
- Duty Free Prime Operator RFP. Currently out for bid.
- Travel Essentials Prime Operator RFP, slated to be released in early May.
- Food Hall Operator. Also to be issued in early May, this opportunity consists of two packages, consisting of a five-unit food hall offering that includes salad, chicken, sandwich, pizza and sushi. The second package is a single unit landside bagel offering.
- Food Hall Operator Direct With Ghost Kitchen. This is an ongoing opportunity.
- Direct Deals for F&B and Retail. Also an ongoing opportunity.
Ashley Hari of URW encouraged participants to stay connected and noted that getting into airport requires “playing the long game.”
“There are a lot of exciting things coming down the pipe for JFK,” she said. Noting the makeup of the webinar attendees, she added, “We have a very wide audience … from veterans of the industry or long-term ACDBE operators to newcomers to the business. There’s a place for everybody in this project and at this table.”
