Edmonton International Airport (YEG)’s Central Hall now offers two new retail concepts: The Shoppes at Whyte and Postcards from Edmonton. The first WH Smith North America stores to arrive at YEG, each shop is designed to bring a sense of place and Edmonton history to travelers passing through the facility. Both stores carry products by Edmonton- and Alberta-based makers, including Armadillo Leather Handbags, Misiyo Candle Co, BLK Rose Candle, Homework Letterpress Studio, Hideout Distro, Still in Town, Stephanie Simpson, and other local artisans. Local food and beverage vendors include Caramunchies, A Worthy Cookie, Colleen’s Chocolates and The Cove Tea Company.
Offering a diverse selection of grab-and-go fare, wellness and beauty products, electronics, reading materials and gifts, The Shoppes at Whyte is a marketplace designed to resemble the historic Old Strathcona neighborhood of Edmonton, complete with a hand-painted mural by local artist Adriana Cruces. Postcards from Edmonton’s store design features a vintage suitcase theme and offers travelers grab-and-go goods as well as local mementos.
“Our airport is fueled by collaboration, and we are excited to welcome WH Smith North America and showcase our incredible region to those traveling through YEG,” said Myron Keehn, president & CEO of Edmonton International Airport of the new retail offerings. “From local goods to travel essentials, The Shoppes at Whyte and Postcards from Edmonton are two boutique stores that will offer passengers the things they need to make their journey even more enjoyable.”
