YYZ Debuts New Retail And Hologram Tech

Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)’s latest retail concept features not only Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, but also cutting-edge holographic displays by ARHT Media.

The Goods Express@YYZ, operated by Paradies Lagardère, is the first installation of checkout-free technology at a Canadian airport. The Just Walk Out system uses generative artificial intelligence to assess customer purchases without the need to physically scan items at a register. Customers using the store scan their credit card or mobile wallet once to enter the premises and are charged for their purchases after exiting. YYZ’s new store also features the use of an ARHT CAPSULE holographic display highlighting the store’s offerings.

“Toronto Pearson is proud to be the first Canadian airport to be implementing Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology,” said Khalil Lamrabet, the airport’s CCO and interim COO. “ Through our collaboration with Paradies Lagardère, we are able to offer our passengers this exciting, new and cutting-edge shopping experience. Partnerships like this are key to providing a world-class passenger experience that our travelers expect. We will continue to invest in new technologies that offer greater customer convenience and efficiency.”
