DCA Opens Centurion Lounge

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) has launched its latest airport lounge — Terminal 2’s Centurion Lounge by American Express. The 12,000 square-foot space with views of the airfield and Potomac River is open seven days a week, offering travelers dedicated workstations, restrooms, shower facilities, high-speed WiFi as well as premium food and beverages.

Designed in collaboration with local Washington, D.C.-based artists, the lounge features a lantern-based ceiling sculpture in reference to the city’s original 1791 boundary lines as well as a mixed media piece by Claudia “Aziza” Gibson-Hunter exploring the relationship between flight and spirituality, a painted canvas of the Capitol Building by Maggie O’Neill, mixed-media tiles by Lori Katz and abstract painting by Emon Surakitkoson.

DCA’s Centurion Lounge offers an expanded menu of Latin, Israeli, and Hawaiian cuisine from three award-winning alums of other Centurion Lounge food and beverage programs: Chef Michelle Bernstein, a James Beard Award-winning restaurateur known for her work at Miami’s Café La Trova, La Cañita and Sweet Liberty; Chef Ravi Kapur of San Francisco’s Liholiho Yacht Club and Chef Michael Solomonov, known for his work at New York and Philadelphia’s Zahav, Goldie, K’Far and Laser Wolf.  The lounge’s beverage program features a selection of Virginia wines curated by lounge wine director Anthony Giglio and cocktails designed by Centurion Lounge mixologist Jim Meehan, including D.C.-centric beverages like the cherry-blossom-inspired Haku Hanami and the Ambrosia Spritz, made with ingredients from local producer Don Ciccio & Figli.

“The Centurion Lounge provides a premium experience for our travelers,” said Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority president and CEO Jack Potter. “Congratulations to American Express for creating a lounge that reflects the Washington, D.C. region. We are confident that customers will enjoy this new amenity.”

“The Centurion Lounge is one of our Card Members’ favorite travel benefits, and the new location at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport offers Card Members the premium amenities they love in an airport they frequently travel through,” added Audrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel.  “With a menu curated by three award-winning chefs, dedicated workstations, access to complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, quiet nooks for relaxation and more, there’s something for every type of traveler to enjoy.”
