The Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) has revealed the results of its 2023 North American Airport Traffic Summary. Drawing on data from 275 North American airports, the report showed a 11.9 percent increase in overall passenger traffic, with a 27.9 percent increase in international traffic and 9.5 percent increase in domestic traffic. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) maintained its place as the busiest airport in North America, with Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Denver International Airport (DEN), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Orlando International Airport (MCO), Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) and Miami International Airport (MIA) rounding out the rest of the top ten.
Conversely, airport cargo volume decreased by 7.4 percent, caused by a reduction in international and domestic freight volume. The report named Memphis International Airport (MEM) North America’s busiest cargo airport, with Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC), Louisville International Airport (SDF), Miami International Airport (MIA), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Indianapolis International Airport (IND) and LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) filling out the rest of the top ten.
