OAK Begins Construction On Terminal 1 Project

San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK) has begun Phase 1 of its Terminal 1 Check-In Counter Replacement Project. The airport’s Terminal 1 check-in lobby will be updated with new interior paint, finishes and light fixtures. The project, managed by Turner Construction, will be conducted in three phases and is expected to open in spring 2025. During Phase 1, the check-in counters for SATA Azores Airlines, Volaris Airlines/Volaris El Salvador, Spirit Airlines and Allegiant Airlines will be temporarily relocated.

“We are so pleased to be kicking off this critical renovation of our Terminal 1 check-in lobby to enhance departing passenger experience at OAK,” said Craig Simon, director of aviation at the Port of Oakland. “We look forward to working collaboratively with Turner Construction to optimize the phasing and minimize disruption throughout the duration of this project.”
