Avolta brand Hudson announced plans to open six new retail stores at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), as part of its new, seven-year contract with the Allegheny County Airport Authority. Hudson currently operates several specialty retail and duty-free concepts at PIT, including Hudson Booksellers, Dunkin’, Sarris Candies and Pittsburgh Duty Free.
Hudson’s new concepts, part of PIT’s Terminal Modernization Program concessions and retail expansion, will span 8,000 square feet of terminal space, including in the airport’s new terminal opening in 2025. Retail concepts include three locations of the Hudson News travel essentials shop, a MAC Cosmetics store, a Pittsburgh-themed Champion City sports apparel and merchandise store and a Duquesne & Co artisan gifts store. Hudson will operate its newest retail stores as a joint venture, HG PIT Retailers JV, with local ACDBE partner Daryl Milliner Media.
“We are excited to build our partnership with Hudson to give our passengers new choices for cosmetics and other amenities, while also serving up a uniquely Pittsburgh experience through local modern gifting,” said Bryan Dietz, senior vice president for air service and commercial development at PIT.
“Pittsburgh International Airport is evolving to meet the ever-growing needs of travelers and the surrounding region, and we are thrilled to be part of the transformation,” added Steve Johnson, Avolta North America’s president and CEO. “The new PIT is a world-class airport worthy of the great city it represents. With a convenient mix of travel essentials and one-of-a-kind finds, our newest retail options will provide a perfect complement to the airport’s mission of delivering a smarter, more efficient passenger experience that is uniquely Pittsburgh.”
