OAK Earns New ACI-NA Carbon Accreditation

The Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) has recognized San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK) with a Level 3 designation in its Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program. OAK, operated by the Port of Oakland, received the distinction for completing sustainability work related to reducing emissions both created by OAK and those indirectly produced by OAK businesses. The ACA program has seven total levels, which OAK executives said it would aim to complete. The Port of Oakland plans to reach zero emissions by 2040, a decade ahead of the U.S. and Canadian airports’ broad goal to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

“OAK is proud to announce that we have achieved Level Three carbon accreditation with the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon. “We are so pleased to be a participant in this program. OAK and its partners are committed to the continued reduction of carbon emissions at our airport.”
