A4A Predicts Demand Jump During Holiday Travel Season

Airlines for America (A4A), the industry organization representing airlines, is projecting 45.7 million people will be traveling on U.S. airlines throughout the 18 days between Dec. 20 and Jan. 6; this marks a 5.2 percent increase over predictions from last year, when 43.4 million passengers traveled during a comparable time frame.

“With airfares at historic lows, travelers are choosing to fly on U.S. airlines in record numbers, especially during the busy holiday season,” says A4A vice president and chief economist, John Heimlich. “Increased consumer choices and fares that match nearly every budget have enabled a record number of people take to the skies to visit loved ones, conduct business or enjoy a holiday getaway.”
