AAAE’s ACT Releases New Industry Research On Digital Marketplaces

The American Association of Airport Executives’ (AAAE) Airport Consortium on Transformation (ACT) has published a new white paper advocating for the integration of airport, airline and third-party communication platforms to provide passengers with a streamlined system of travel management.

The ACT collaborated with energy management specialist Schneider Electric, the San Antonio International Airport (SAT) and other industry experts to outline what an ACT Airport Digital Marketplace might look like and how it can enhance the passenger experience. Their paper suggests that an integration of airport retail and dining services, location-based advertising, and communications around operational aspects of travel, such as wait times, can modernize the travel experience while simultaneously providing more granular data analytics and boosting airport revenue.

“Establishing an airport information exchange datahub delivers transformative benefits to the aviation industry,” said AAAE’s vice president of airport solutions Kyle Herbig. “This digital marketplace concept can revolutionize airport interactions by enhancing efficiency, improving customer experience, and unlocking new revenue streams. AAAE is committed to leading these initiatives.”

“Our goal with the Airport Digital Marketplace is to revolutionize how airports interact with passengers, airlines, and retailers,” added Thomas Bartlett, deputy director of airports at San Antonio International Airport. “This initiative will allow airports to leverage data analytics for better decision-making and offer tailored services that meet the evolving needs of passengers.”
