Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) has launched a new website aimed at educating potential vendors ahead of the airport’s “Dream of Flight: Sunport Reimagined” renovation project and major concessions overhaul set to begin next year.
The new “Sunport Doing Business” website (abqsunportbiz.com) features information on the
Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) program and upcoming terminal renovation project, advertising Opportunities at ABQ, airline programs and Albuquerque’s Foreign Trade Zone.
“We created this new website to support the business community, from airline partners to private industry, as we continue to enhance our business development toolbox,” said Manny Manriquez, Sunport innovation and commercial development manager. “This strengthens our efforts to be productive business partners in the run up to major work on the Dream of Flight terminal renovation project.”
The Dream of Flight project will be carried out concurrently with a concessions redevelopment. Requests for Proposals (RFP) for the new concessions program are expected to be released in early 2023. A key metric for considering proposals will be ACDBE participation, the airport said.
“The ACDBE program is one of our most important assets in support of collaboration between the Sunport and small, disadvantaged and local businesses,” said Richard McCurley, director of aviation for the City of Albuquerque, which owns and operates ABQ. “The forthcoming outreach on this program is an exciting step in the process, and we hope to energize the New Mexican business community by engaging them on this opportunity.”
