ACI-NA Launches Airport Workforce Development Accreditation

Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) has announced the launch of a new Airport Workforce Development Accreditation designed to acknowledge operational achievements across transit facilities. Administered by ACI-NA advisory firm 4QD Strategy Consulting LLC and segmented into five levels, the Airport Workforce Development Accreditation marks key improvements in workplace practices; community awareness and outreach; nurturing talent; educational and industry partnerships; and future-proofing strategies.

“Ensuring sustained access to a skilled, engaged and future-ready workforce is one of the most pressing issues facing the North American airport industry today,” said ACI-NA president and CEO Kevin M. Burke.  “Our new Airport Workforce Development Accreditation will provide airports and their business partners with a strategic and structured roadmap in addressing this critical challenge.”

ACI-NA has so far awarded five airports Airport Workforce Development Accreditations: South Dakota’s Rapid City Regional Airport (RAP), Alberta, Canada’s Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO) received Level 1 accreditation; while Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Denver International Airport (DEN) received Level 3 accreditation.

“These airports have demonstrated excellence in strategic workforce planning and employee engagement, setting a new benchmark for the industry,” added Burke. “We are proud to recognize the first five airports to earn their accreditation under this program and look forward to assisting more airports and business partners in attaining their accreditation soon.”
