ACI-NA Praises Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal

Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) voiced support for the bipartisan infrastructure framework announced by key U.S. senators and the White House this week that includes $25 billion in new airport infrastructure investment.

The $973 billion bipartisan agreement fund roads, bridges, pipes, transmission lines, broadband and other key infrastructure, including airports, over five years.

Kevin Burke, ACI-NA president and CEO, said U.S. airports have long been underfunded and unable to make many of the terminal, runway, and accessibility improvements needed to keep pace with an increasing number of passengers and flights at their facilities.

“It is great to see bipartisan agreement about the pressing need to upgrade America’s airports,” Burke said. “With airports facing over $115 billion in documented infrastructure needs over the next five years, the $25 billion in new investments called for in today’s agreement set the stage for major upgrades at our airports that will help the economic recovery and improve the customer experience in communities nationwide.”
