Airport Sherpa App Lands At BWI

Airport Sherpa Inc. has launched its Airport Sherpa app at Baltimore/Washington international Thurgood Marshall (BWI). The app allows passengers to order food or retail merchandise from any participating concessionaire. The order is then delivered to the passenger, anywhere in the airport, by a uniformed “sherpa”.

“BWI is currently live and we have a robust launch plan to roll out at a number of major airports in 2017 and 2018,” said Patrick DellaValle, CEO of Airport Sherpa. “We have had tremendous participation and interest from our food and retail partners, with more than 35 stores currently participating; we anticipate having close to full participation in the near term.”

DellaValle said it was important for Airport Sherpa to include both food and retail options. “We believe that by creating a platform that serves both groups, we can achieve a unified goal of ensuring that travelers are aware of all the great food and retail options available, allowing every store to reach every traveler and creating a rich experience where travelers can enjoy those products regardless of gate location,” he says. “The ability to deliver a personalized real time customer experience is a central focus of the travel industry, and we believe Airport Sherpa facilitates this for travelers, as well as airlines, operators, airports, concessionaires and all other members of the airport ecosystem.

Travelers can place orders through the Airport Sherpa up to a week in advance, according to Alan Gluck, partner. The order is synced to the traveler’s itinerary, so the app knows when and where to deliver the order.

“The Sherpa app is a highly advanced, machine-intelligent technology that learns about our customers in order to be able to provide targeted recommendations and thus, provide them the type of service they want and expect,” Gluck added.

The App is now available in the App Store. An Android version is currently under development.
