Akron-Canton Airport Authority Hires New President & CEO

The Akron-Canton Airport Authority’s Board of Trustees has announced the hire of Renato “Ren” Camacho as Akron-Canton Airport’s new President & CEO. Mr. Camacho will officially join the team on October 1, 2018. He replaces Rick McQueen who will retire December 31, 2018.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Camacho onboard, and we know he will thrive as the next President & CEO of the Akron-Canton Airport,” said Christopher J. Holding, Akron-Canton Airport Board of Trustees Chair. “He has a track record of strong leadership, capital improvement execution, and is well respected among his peers in the aviation industry. Mr. Camacho will continue to take our airport to the next level as we invest in customer experience, air service and economic development.”

Mr. Camacho comes from the City of Cleveland’s Department of Port Control which oversees Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE), Burke Lakefront Airport (BKL), and Lakefront Harbors. Prior to his time in Cleveland, Mr. Camacho spent 14 years in the engineering department of the Port Authority of NY/NJ.

Mr. Camacho received his master’s degree in Transportation Planning & Engineering from NYU/Polytechnic University and Bachelor of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.), a registered professional engineer in the state of Ohio, a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, and is actively engaged in multiple leadership initiatives.

The airport authority board voted unanimously to hire Mr. Camacho at its July 19th board meeting.
