Alternative Fuel Station Coming To ORD

PMG Airport Developers and Clean Energy Fuels have contracted with the Chicago Department of Aviation to build a travel center that will offer compressed natural gas, biodiesel and fast-charging stations for electric vehicles, as well as conventional gasoline.

The 4,000-square-foot plaza will be built on city-owned, vacant land near Chicago O’Hare International (ORD).

The announcement was made at the Airports Going Green Conference hosted by the department and the American Association of Airport Executives.

“Providing better access to alternative fuels at O’Hare provides multiple benefits for the city and the public,” says Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “We are able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality, while at the same time generating revenue.”

PMG builds and operates travel plazas at airports. Clean Energy Fuels is a provider of natural gas. The travel enter is expected to open in early 2016.
