The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport), state political leaders, American Airlines, master concessionaire developer Marketplace Development and concessionaires including HMSHost and Delaware North, all joined together to mark the formal opening of the American Airlines Terminal B Great Hall at Boston Logan International (BOS).
The Great Hall is part of the BOS Terminal B Optimization program, which connects all 37 gates post-security and consolidates three TSA checkpoints on the former US Airways side into one modernized checkpoint, with Automated Screening Lanes.
The project also updates ticket counters and kiosks, improves the baggage handling area, modifies gates to better meet airline requirements, and reconfigures and modernizes concession locations. It also centralizes American Airlines footprint at the airport all in one area, while providing travelers more comfortable seating with device plug-in capabilities.
The result is not only better wayfinding and passenger flow, from the ticket counter, through security to gates, but also improved concessions, including airport locations for local favorite such as Kelly’s Roast Beef and Italian farm-to-table restaurant Lucca’s.
“This collaborative project between Massport and American Airlines provides customers with a more comfortable airport experience accompanied with local flavor and innovative technology,” says Massachusetts Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, who attended the launch event.
