Logistics company DHL is hosting its 4th annual Plane Pull event on Sept. 17 to raise money for Special Olympics Kentucky at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International (CVG).
Twenty five local businesses and civic groups are expected to compete in pulling a DHL Boeing 737 across the tarmac. The team that pulls the plane 12 feet the fastest will be declared the winner. There will be men’s team, women’s team and co-ed team champions.
“We are excited to once again collaborate with Special Olympics with our annual DHL Plane Pull,” says Joanie Arias, vice president of DHL Express CVG Americas Hub. “On Saturday you’ll see some great teams flex their muscles for our local athletes. We are proud to provide an exciting and meaningful opportunity to raise money for such an important cause.”
Every team had to raise a minimum $1,000 in order to participate in the plane pull. All proceeds will go toward providing sports programs, health services, early childhood programs and community building programs for people in Kentucky with mental disabilities.
