Another Storm Affecting Flights In The Northeast

Only a week after Hurricane Sandy, another storm is threatening the northeastern United States.

Wednesday,
a powerful nor’easter has moved into areas already damaged by Hurricane
Sandy, and is set to drop a foot of snow and cause flooding and power
outages. Wind gusts are expected to range anywhere between 20 to 50
miles per hour.  According to the National Oceanic And Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA), a nor’easter is, “a cyclonic storm”.

Per The Weather Channel, mandatory evacuations have been issued for those in low lying waterfront areas in New Jersey.

Rob
Yingling, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Washington Airports
Authority (MWAA) which overseas Washington Dulles (IAD) and Ronald
Reagan Washington National (DCA) said the airports were feeling no
effects operationally aside from a few canceled flights from New York.

LaGuardia
(LGA), Newark Liberty International (EWR) and John F. Kennedy
International (JFK) currently remain open, though travelers are urged to
contact their airlines to be updated on flight delays and cancelations.

JetBlue announced on its website that change/cancel fees will
be waived on flights to and from areas such as New York, Connecticut,
Massachusetts, Virginia and more.  Delta on its website, also has a list
of its affected destinations.

United is suspending most service to and from New York and Philadelphia.
