The new terminal at Malaga (AGP) opened March 15, with the launch of 10 shops operated by Areas.
“We are especially pleased and excited at the opening of these establishments,” says Eligio Bianchi, Áreas’ general manager for distribution and corporate. “Malaga Airport is a new challenge for us in a strategic tourist location, where we will have the opportunity to demonstrate our experience and good management, because it is one of the most important airports in the peninsula.
The shops include national and international brands, such as the National Geographic store, the first shop opened by the brand in southern Europe. Offerings include travel items, clothing, shoes, home furnishings, books and videos.
Cottet, the eye care group, has a spot in the terminal, as does Desire, a new proprietary concept featuring jewelry and high-end costume jewelry.
The Sweet Market is aimed to appeal to the large volume of English family passengers, with three outlets selling chocolates and candies. Sibarium showcase national products and a selection of delicatessen; it will give away a bottle of appellation contrôllé©e wine, oil or honey, with proof of purchase of any product at another Malaga airport Áreas shop, while supplies last.
Other shops include Travel Mate, offering top brand accessories and travel gear; Adidas, with sports and outdoor articles; and Adolfo Dominguez, selling accessories for men and women.
“The responsibility for creating a commercial offer, in terms of shops, at the new Malaga airport terminal can only be successfully tackled in one way: knowing clients’ specific needs and addressing them by combining agreements with the best and most well-known brands and the creation of exclusive shops to complement the product offering and make it unique,” says Mathieu Herrero, Áreas’ marketing director.
