Areas Brings Six F&B Concepts to RDU

Areas is launching six new restaurant concepts in Terminal 2 at Raleigh Durham International Airport (RDU), providing travelers with new choices for locally-brewed beers, Asian cuisine, fresh, made-to-order sandwiches, tacos, burgers, healthy fare and other dining and drinking options.

Three new concepts will open this weekend: Bond Brothers Beer Company, near Gate C7, featuring local beers and spirits and a food menu with local flair; Cantina Grill at Gate C17, providing a selection of tasty tacos, burgers and other entrees, including gluten-free options, as well as local beers and spirits; and Raleigh Taproom, near Gate D3, that will offer award-winning beers along with a full bar and a robust menu. RDU is also set to open the flagship Raleigh Brewing Tavern in Terminal 1 later this year.

Areas will follow that later in January with the opening of three more dining options: Deli & Co, at Gate C9, featuring locally sourced healthy, organic and made-to-order food options; Rush Bowls at Gate D9, with a menu featuring smoothies and bowls crafted from the finest fruit and topped with granola and honey and blended with protein, vitamins and other nutritious ingredients; and Wow Bao at C18,, the fast casual Asian concept providing steamed dumplings, rice bowls and the iconic Bao – steamed hot Asian buns with a variety of savory and sweet fillings.

“Travelers will have more dining options at RDU including locally-inspired choices, ethnic cuisines and two North Carolina breweries,” says David Freedman, Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority’s senior vice president and chief revenue officer. “These additions underscore our commitment to reimagine our concessions program throughout Terminal 2 and enhance the guest experience.”

The new Terminal 2 food concepts are part of RDU’s first partnership with international travel catering vendor Areas. Areas is also assuming management of Bruegger’s Bagels and California Pizza Kitchen, which will remain in operation at RDU.

“We are so excited to be operating at Raleigh-Durham International in partnership with Uptown Restaurant Group,” says Sergio Rodríguez, CEO of Areas in the U.S. “Areas is committed to delivering a world class experience to travelers, and we plan to exceed the expectations of RDU travelers through quality local flair, amazing service and great food.”
