Areas has launched nine dining and four retail concessions at the new terminal at Alicante (ALC).
The contract is for eight years on the food concessions and five years on the shops, both extendable. It is adding space to the terminal, 35,359 sq. ft. for food locations and 3,584 sq. ft. for shops.
“The launch of these 13 establishments in the new terminal at El Altet is an important milestone in our history because it ensures the company’s presence in a very attractive location with great potential,” says Pedro Fontana, president of Áreas. “The new terminal places Alicante on the map of world-class airports, and Áreas is proud of its contribution in this respect.”
Chef Quique Dacosta, who has close ties to Alicante, was chosen by the company to lead Aire Tapasbar, an establishment that offers travelers Mediterranean cuisine made from local products. The tapas bar menu will include food preparation times next to each dish. Other dining options will include Carling, an authentic English pub; Caé±as y Tapas, a traditional brewery with the Spanish tapas; Subway, which shares a space with Rodilla and Ars; La Pausa, a brasserie-grill concept, and coffee shops such as Starbucks, Il Caffe di Roma and Caffriccio.
On the retail side will be Sibarium, selling gourmet products; News & Books, offering books, newspapers and gifts; Story Store and Tuc Tuc, selling gifts and children’s fashions; and Travel Mate and Cottet, offering sunglasses and travel accessories.
