Areas USA has appointed Carlos Bernal as CEO, effective immediately. Bernal replaces Sergio Rodriguez, who was recently appointed CEO of Areas Iberia. Areas said Rodriguez will assist during the on-boarding of Bernal into the Areas USA team.
Bernal previously was president of Delaware North Sportservice, a position he held until November 2019. He has also held senior positions at Westfield, HMSHost and Wagamama. Areas USA says Bernal brings significant leadership experience in managing high-growth companies, corporate repositioning and on-the-ground operations within multiple business venues encompassing a broad range of restaurant concepts for private and publicly held companies.
His experience in deal negotiations, franchising, contract/lease negotiations and RFP submittals, as well as his demonstrated expertise at building and managing successful management teams and restaurants will be key in the development of Areas’ strategic plan in the USA, the Miami-based company said.
