Areas USA has named Sergio Rodriguez, the former COO of the company, as its new CEO.
Rodriguez replaces Xavier Rabell, who joined the company in 2006 as founding CEO. A spokesperson for Areas USA said Rabell has decided to take his career in a different direction. There are no immediate plans to name a new COO, the spokesperson said.
Rodriguez, who was named COO in 2015, will be charged with sustaining the development and consolidation of concession activities in the North America region, the company said. He has more than 20 years of experience working with Areas globally in Portugal, Spain and Mexico before joining the U.S. team in 2014.
