ARINC Inc. and Gate Gourmet have announced a partnership to market on-board sales programs to airlines and passenger rail systems.
Gate Gourmet, which specializes in airline catering and onboard retail management, will offer ARINC’s SkyBuy sales technology; in turn, ARINC will help Gate Gourmet on outsourced catering and buy-on-board projects. SkyBuy will be introduced to three airlines: easyJet and Norwegian in Europe and Jetsair in Asia.
SkyBuy uses a wireless point-of-sale system for in-flight sales transactions, allowing airlines to sell food and beverages, in-flight entertainment, duty-free items and rail passes; payment can be made in the form of cash, credit card or smartcard, in multiple currencies.
“Gate Gourmet will now take its success with ‘buy-on-board’ programs for our airline
customers to the next level with SkyBuy,” says Herman Anbeek, senior vice president and chief commercial officer of gategroup.
Robert Sapitowitz, ARINC vice president for new business, says: “The global airport footprint and retail model of Gate Gourmet fits perfectly with ARINC’s aviation and communications expertise. Together, we can offer airlines a powerful and complete onboard retail solution – from procurement, preparation and delivery, to sales tracking and inventory management.”
