Airport Revenue News (ARN), a division of Urban Expositions, is pleased to announce the appointment of David Broderick to the position of executive director. Broderick will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company, enhancing the quality and depth of the magazine, conference and Fact Book, and leading ARN’s strategic growth.
Broderick is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Business, where he received a bachelor of business administration degree in finance and business law. As an experienced business developer across multiple industries including insurance, financial services, consulting, travel and entertainment, Broderick brings strong financial insight, strategic planning, organizational development and team-building expertise to ARN.
“David’s versatile business background, coupled with his entrepreneurial spirit, made him the ideal candidate for this position,” said Doug Miller, president of Urban Expositions. “His creative thinking and keen understanding of the unique needs of the various audiences our publications and conference serve will certainly help us achieve the continued growth goals we have set for the company. “
Urban’s COO, Tim Von Gal, notes that Broderick distinguished himself from a field of many accomplished and well-qualified candidates.
”David brings to ARN a keen interest in our industry and a solid track record of successful strategic business building,” Von Gal said. “He is the right person to lead ARN to the next level in the ever-changing landscape of print, Internet, trade show and conferences. We all look forward to working with David in this exciting new chapter of ARN.”
Broderick started his career in the insurance industry with AequiCap Financial Group, where he served as vice president of business development and marketing. During his tenure with the company, he supported the company’s national retail agency force and directed the national expansion of the company’s diversified multi-line insurance products, including the launch of an exclusive livery (taxi) insurance program through A++, AAA-rated carrier General Star Insurance Co., a Berkshire Hathaway company.
While with AequiCap, Broderick also oversaw the exploration of multiple business development and investment initiatives, including the development and launch of aviation startup SYNERJETS, where he served as executive director. The private jet charter company was founded and partially owned with a select group of Federal Aviation Administration-certified Part 135 Air Carriers, all required to maintain the highest standards of safety and service, as verified by outside rating agencies including Wyvern & AR/GUS.
Most recently, Broderick co-founded Mango Music Management, an independent entertainment company specializing in artist development, production, distribution and general management. Projects under Mango’s management achieved numerous critical and commercial successes on a domestic and international basis, including topping their respective charts on outlets such as Billboard, iTunes and Amazon.
“Airports play a significant role in the shaping of our economic, political and social landscapes,” Broderick said. “The transportation impact may be obvious, but with travelers spending nearly $5.5B dollars in restaurants, specialty stores, and news and gift shops at the highest-performing North American airports in 2011 alone, it is clear that the economic significance of airports reaches far wider than transportation activity. The importance of airports in the growth of business and industry in their communities is far greater than many people likely realize. I look forward to helping build upon the foundation laid by our esteemed founder, Pauline Armbrust, in the continued development of ARN as a valuable resource for the important and growing communities it serves.”
Broderick replaces Armbrust, the founder of ARN, who will be stepping down in December.
”I am so pleased to be leaving the company in such capable hands,” Armbrust said. “David brings so many valuable skills to the company, and I’m confident he will add great value to the ARN team, as well as continue the company’s dynamic leadership role in the industry.”
