ARN Names Cherry Of YUL 2014 Director Of The Year, Medium Airports Category

Airport Revenue News is pleased to announce James Cherry as its Director of the Year in the medium airports category; Cherry is director of Aeroports de Montreal, which oversees Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International (YUL).

“For more than a decade, James Cherry has been at the forefront of progressing, not just his own airport, but of those around the world,” says Ramon Lo, editorial director at ARN. “The ARN editorial staff and I are honored to recognize and celebrate his work.”

Cherry has been president and CEO of Aeroports de Montreal since 2001. Prior to his time with the airport, Cherry held senior executive positions with Bombardier, Oerlikon Aerospace, CAE and Alstom Canada. A chartered accountant with more than 30 years of experience in business administration, project management and financial management in industries such as international aerospace, defense and rail, Cherry most recently was named chairman of Airports Council International-North America’s Board of Directors.

“On behalf of the entire ADM team, I greatly appreciate receiving this recognition from ARN,” said Cherry. “In the past few years, like many airports, we have been working hard at Montreal-Trudeau to enhance the customer experience and boost our non-aeronautical revenues. We have emerged as a leader in this regard, boosting these revenues to nearly a third of our total revenues last year. We will continue to grow our commercial business in the years to come and by 2018 hope to have an equal split between aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue.”

ARN will celebrate Cherry in the upcoming November issue, for which he will be interviewed and will appear on the cover. He will be presented with this award at the ARN Awards Show on the final night of the ARN 2015 Revenue Conference & Exhibition, March 8-11, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego.
