ATL Opens Fire Rescue EMS Center

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) has opened the Atlanta Fire Rescue EMS Center to provide on-site care to passengers and staff. The airport hopes to reduce the number of people needing to be transferred to off-sight hospitals or care centers. Last year the number of people transported off site for treatment was around 2,000, the airport said.

ATL says it is the  first domestic airport with an on-site triage center dedicated to treating passengers who need non-acute medical assistance. The facility is run by the airport’s fire rescue department.
