ATL Submits Recommendations For New Food, Retail

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International aviation general manager Louis Miller presented recommendations for contracts to 126 food and 24 retail locations to the Atlanta City Council’s Transportation Committee. A number of the concepts will be located throughout the airport and in the new Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal which is scheduled to open in spring 2012.

Of the proposed new food and beverage concepts, many such as Grindhouse Killer Burgers, Original El Taco, The Pecan, Real Chow Baby and Sweet Georgia Juke Joint are native to Georgia.

Among the proposed retail concepts are national brands Brookstone, CNN, Kiehl’s, MAC, New York Times Bookstore, Soundbalance, Swarovski, Tommy Hilfiger and Wall Street Journal.

In addition to the Transportation Committee, the recommendations must be approved by the full Atlanta City Council which is set to next meet January 3.

This latest episode could be the final chapter to a process which a few months ago saw the airport restart after 41 of the 95 submitted proposals were found to be missing required documents. The delay put the targeted April 15 open date of the new international terminal in jeopardy.
