By a 13-0 vote, the Atlanta City Council made official the hiring of Miguel Southwell as the new general manager at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL).
“I thank Mayor [Kasim] Reed and the members of the Atlanta City Council for giving me the opportunity to continue to guide Hartsfield-Jackson toward even greater success as we work to complete the airport master plan and grow our cargo business,” Southwell says.
Southwell had been interim general manager since January, when Louis Miller retired after three years on the job. Southwell previously had worked at ATL from 1990 to 2001. He returned as deputy general manager of commercial operations in 2013.
He’ll be tasked with rolling out and initiating ATL’s new master plan, which will guide the airport past 2030. Reed named Southwell the permanent GM in mid-May.
