AUS Testing Self-Driving Shuttles

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is testing autonomous transportation technology in the form of self-driving shuttles for travelers going from the Barbara Jordan Terminal to the rental car facility and ground transportation links.

The Easy Mile EZ10 driverless shuttle takes passengers to and from the terminal to the Rental Car Facility/Ground Transportation hub, which is also the location for the airport’s pick-up area for taxis and ride-app services. Other route options may potentially be explored in further testing.

The shuttle seats six with additional room for standing passengers and has a built-in automated electric access ramp for wheelchair accessibility. While the vehicle itself operates autonomously, an AUS attendant is present to assist travelers and for safety purposes during this pilot program.

The battery-powered Easy Mile EZ10 is part of the airport’s efforts to promote green energy solutions that both benefit passengers and help AUS meet the City of Austin’s Strategic Direction 2023 Health & Environment outcome.
