Construction firm Balfour Beatty has broken ground on Jacksonville International Airport (JAX)’s approximately $340 million Concourse B project as well as the airport’s new $100 million parking garage structure.
The airport’s parking structure adds six levels of parking next to JAX’s current garage as well as approximately 2,000 additional spaces and a streamlined rental car pickup and dropoff area.
JAX’s new concourse, which is expected to be complete by December 2026, is being constructed over three phases: the first, which was completed in Fall 2023, was the expansion of the facility’s security checkpoint; the second, which is currently underway, includes taxiway and ramp construction, as well as the construction and relocation of airfield equipment; and the final phase — the construction of the 190,000-square-foot Concourse B, which includes six new gates and new concessions.
“Over the last 25 years our company has served as a construction partner of JAX’s expansion efforts,” said Dave Campbell, Balfour Beatty operations director in Jacksonville. “Our project team is ready to embark on the newest expansion at JAX while working with Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) to support their project goals and maintain safe airport operations throughout construction. Balfour Beatty is grateful to continue our presence at JAX and provide a solution for the airport’s increased passenger growth.”
