Concessions International and United Concessions Group have announced the opening of Bar Symon at Washington Dulles International (IAD).
Bar Symon is the brainchild of James Beard award winning Iron Chef Michael Symon. It was created specifically for airports, combining Symon’s own experiences with award-winning restaurants and his frustrations with food options while traveling.
The partnership between Symon and United Concessions Group grew from a meeting between the chef and Ben Rababy, UCG vice president. Rababy helped convince Symon to open the first Bar Symon at Pittsburgh International (PIT). The venue at IAD marks the first time Concessions International and UCG have worked together.
“Bar Symon is a great American bistro for airport guests looking for something different than your typical bar and grill,” says Donata Russell Major, CEO of Concessions International. “Chef Symon has become a household name across the country and many diners will jump at the chance to try his unique menu items.”
Those items include new and traditional American cuisine with an emphasis on comfort food. The menu includes a selection of burgers and sandwiches, as well as Greek and Italian entrees inspired by Symon’s heritage. It’s located in Terminal D near gate 16.
