The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) and major air carrier JetBlue launched a one-step biometric boarding process at Reagan National Airport (DCA) using its newly developed veriScanTM system.
The system was designed and launched by the MWAA’s Office of Technology in response to a congressional mandate for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to implement biometric exit processes for commercial airline flights leaving the United States. The veriScan TM system employs facial-recognition technology to streamline passenger verification and boarding, in place of tickets, on outbound international flights.
