BNA Earns First Pet-Friendly Airport Certification

Nashville International Airport (BNA) announced last week that Mars Petcare has named it the first airport to earn its pet-friendly certification as part of its BETTER CITIES FOR PETS program.

The new Airport Certification from Mars Petcare aims to accommodate the growing desire from pet parents to travel with their dogs and cats, and encourage other airports to make the travel experience more welcoming to both people and their pets.

“As travelers seek pet-friendly travel experiences, BNA is thrilled to partner with Mars Petcare and provide these enhancements to earn the first-ever Airport Certification through the BETTER CITIES FOR PETS program,” said Doug Kreulen, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, operator of BNA. “We’re excited to announce the installation of our many pet-friendly amenities, including green spaces and relief and hydration stations, and we’re proud to help pave the way toward more pet-friendly travel in the future.”

BNA pet-friendly features include a dedicated dog park, located on the fifth floor of Terminal Garage 1 to provide much-needed outdoor green space to traveling pets; two curbside relief areas at the North and South terminals, each equipped with a hydration station and waste station; an indoor relief area located in Concourse D post-security; and enhanced visual wayfinding signage throughout the airport to make locating pet-friendly amenities easier for travelers.
