Boise Airport (BOI) Director Rebecca Hupp has been selected as Director of the Year, Medium Airports Division, by Airport Experience News.
“Rebecca Hupp has spent nearly a decade at the helm of BOI and during that time passenger traffic has expanded significantly,” said Melissa Montes, publisher of Airport Experience News. “The strong focus on air service development and passenger growth propelled Boise into the medium hub category this year. Rebecca’s ability to drive the remarkable growth in passenger numbers, and to usher in a strong rebound as the pandemic eases, made her an optimal choice for director of the year.”
Hupp has a long tenure in airport management. She was named director of BOI in 2012 and, prior to that, served as manager of Bangor International Airport (BGR). She has also held key positions at Aberdeen Regional Airport (ABR) and the Kansas City Aviation Department. In the broader industry, she has served as a board member and regional chapter president for the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
“I feel amazingly honored and humbled to be the recipient of Airport Experience News’ award for Director of the Year in the Medium Hub category,” Hupp said. “I’m incredibly thankful for my talented team in Boise and the continuous support from my coworkers, as well as industry colleagues. I believe no one achieves success alone, and I’m proud of what we have all accomplished together.”
Hupp is the second of three directors of the year to be named by AXN for 2021. Last week AXN announced the selection of Rick Tucker, executive director and CEO of the Port of Huntsville, as Director of the Year in the small airports division. The selection for large airport category will be revealed in the coming weeks. All will be featured in the November/December issue of Airport Experience News and will be honored at the 2022 Airport Experience Conference in Orlando.
