The New Hanover County Airport Authority Board this week announced that Jeffrey Bourk will take over as director of Wilmington International Airport (ILM) beginning early next year.
Bourk brings decades of aviation experience to ILM, including serving as executive director of Branson Airport (BKG) in Hollister, Missouri for 14 years. At BKG, Bourk successfully contributed to one of the industry’s largest public private partnerships constructing a green field airport that created millions of dollars of economic benefit to the tourist region since opening in 2009.
Prior to that, Bourk served as assistant airport manager for Portland International Jetport (PWM) for six years and held operations management roles for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) at Teterboro Airport (TEB).
“The Airport Authority members all feel that Mr. Bourk’s strategic approach, new synergy, and career aviation knowledge will help ILM grow to heightened levels of excellence and we look forward to working with him,” said Airport Authority Chairman Donna Girardot.
Bourk, who begins his new position January 3, was placed in the job following a search conducted by Jacksonville, FL-based ADK Consulting & Executive Search.
