Breeze Airways to Pilot New Check-In Process at LAX

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this week announced that low-cost carrier startup Breeze Airways will begin providing service to the airport this summer and feature a new technologically driven check-in process that eliminates the need for travelers to visit a check-in counter or kiosk.

When Breeze Airways begins operating out of the LAX Tom Bradley International Terminal, the pilot check-in program enables passengers to check-in through the airline’s app while a mobile team with Breeze will assist with baggage drop-off.

“We are thrilled to have Breeze Airways offer its service at LAX, adding three new nonstop destinations from LA, further growing the West Coast connectivity across the nation and bringing new innovations and technology to LAX,” said Justin Erbacci, CEO of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), which operates LAX. “As air travel continues to recover, there is a growing demand for nonstop flights between LAX and East Coast destinations, and we are pleased that Breeze Airways shares our goal to provide our passengers with more flight options this summer and beyond.”

Breeze Airways was founded by aviation entrepreneur David Neeleman and began service in May 27, 2021. Since then, it has flown nearly 500,000 passengers, from 18 cities across 14 states.

The addition of flights at LAX is part of the airline’s broader U.S. expansion, which will add 35 routes this summer from 10 new cities, coast to coast. Breeze Airways will more than double its fleet this year with the addition of 80 brand new Airbus A220-300, an aircraft Breeze Airways plans to fly on the Los Angeles routes.

“The A220-300 is a game-changer for us as we now add long haul flights and transcontinental service,” said Neeleman. ” With the A220, Breeze is giving our guests the widest cabin, highest ceiling, largest windows and biggest overhead stowage in this class, while still managing to burn 25 percent less fuel, with half the noise footprint of past generations.”

The LAX announcement was one of number of new routes and destination Breeze announced this week, including flights to and from John Glenn Columbus International (CMH), Rhode Island T. F. Green International (PVD), Nashville International (BNA), Louis Armstrong New Orleans International (MSY), San Francisco International (SFO), Hartford’s Bradley International (BDL), and Louisville Muhammad Ali International (SDF) airports.
