Bruegger’s CEO Named Operator Of The Year

Nation’s Restaurant News has named James Greco, chief executive of Bruegger’s Bagels, its Operator of the Year.

The honor was announced during the publication’s Gold Anniversary Celebration in Dallas, Texas, on Oct. 5.

Readers chose Greco from the year’s six Gold Chain award winners, which also included Chuck Fallon, president of Burger King North America; Phil Friedman, chairman and chief executive of McAlister’s Deli; Jeffrey Harvey, president and chief executive of Burgerville; Randy Kibler, president and chief executive of Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits; and Cameron Mitchell, president and chief executive of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants.

“I’m very honored to be included in the company of such distinguished past recipients,” Greco says. “However, this is not so much a recognition of me, but of the 3,400 members of our team around the country who create a memorable experience for our guests 600,000 times a week.”

Greco joined Bruegger’s in 2003, and has grown the company to 290 units with annual systemwide sales of $200M.
