BUR Gets New Brand Identity

Bob Hope (BUR) is getting new branding.

The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority on May 2 selected Hollywood Burbank Airport as the new marketing brand identity for BUR. Its legal name will remain Bob Hope.

“We believe the Hollywood Burbank branding identity will let passengers know that they have more than one airport choice when they fly into the Los Angeles Basin,” says Frank Quintero, airport authority president. “The City of Burbank is known as the Media Capital of the World, and we want to promote its proximity to popular centers of entertainment.”

The airport worked with Anyone Collective LLC, a brand management and creative services agency, to conduct research and develop the new brand identity. The focus was on finding an identity that emphasized the airport’s geographic location, with the hope of marketing BUR to travelers who live east of the Rocky Mountains.

The rebranding is a two-phase process. The rest of phase one will be used to create branding materials. The second phase will then focus on the implementation and execution of the new identity.
