The first leg in Vancouver International Airport’s (YVR) terminal expansion project, a 13,000-square-foot remote stand operation (RSO) facility for bus and shuttle transportation to waiting aircraft, is now complete and ready for use.
The current RSO can accommodate as many as six hundred passengers, funneled from the main terminal to the waiting room via escalators and elevators located between gates 55 and 59. When planes are ready, passengers in the waiting area will take electric buses to covered walkways that will allow them to board the aircraft.
The renovation to YVR’s Pier D terminal will eventually see a total of six RSO facilities, all part of the airport’s largest terminal renovation project in over 20 years.
