CAK President And CEO Rick McQueen Announces Plan To Retire At End Of 2018

Rick McQueen, president and CEO of Akron-Canton Airport (CAK), has announced he plans to retire at the end of 2018. McQueen’s 36-year career at CAK, the last 10 years of which he spent as CAK’s president and CEO, has been been marked by numerous accomplishments.

Among these are numerous terminal building upgrades and renovations; an extension of Runway 5-23; an improved entrance road; the addition of covered short-term parking; the replacement of CAK’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting facility; a new general aviation customs and border patrol facility; and the construction of Port Green Industrial Park.

McQueen began his career at CAK as airport accountant. Subsequently, he assumed the role of controller and then assistant director of finance and administration. After that he served as assistant airport director before becoming president and CEO in 2008.

“Nothing at the airport looks the same as the day I began working here,” says McQueen. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to guide the Akron-Canton Airport through significant capital improvements and growth over the past decade. With the airport’s 10-year, $118 million capital improvement plan coming to a close this year, it’s the right time for me to pass the torch on to a new leader who will guide our airport to its next big achievement.”
