Cappetta Shifts To Chairman Role At SSP America; Svagdis Named New CEO

Les Cappetta’s role at SSP America has changed from CEO to Chairman; Michael Svagdis will begin serving as the company’s new CEO next month.

“Michael has an excellent track record and the right balance of skills to lead the well-established SSP North America team through its next exciting phase of development and growth,” says Kate Swann, CEO of SSP Group. “As Chairman, Les will play a significant role in the future of the company, supporting Michael and the North American team as they continue to take SSP North America forward.”

Cappetta, who came to the company from HMSHost Corp., became CEO in 2007. In his more than seven years with the company, it has opened more than 80 restaurants at airports such as John F. Kennedy International’s (JFK) Terminal 4, Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX), San Diego International (SAN), Sacramento International (SMF), Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International (YWG) and George Bush Intercontinental (IAH).

Svagdis previously served as CEO of Eurest Dining Services, a division of Compass Group plc. Prior to his time with Eurest, he was the president of Morrison Healthcare Services.
