Chef Symon To Join In Thanksgiving Festivities At Multiple Airports

Chef Michael Symon will be participating in Thanksgiving at several of his airport locations.

On Nov. 20, Symon will eat breakfast with a dozen military service members at his Bar Symon location, a collaboration with Paradies Lagardère and United Concessions Group, at Pittsburgh International (PIT). The meal will be followed by a meet-and-greet event with passengers at 11:30 a.m. in the Center Core and a book signing of his cookbook “5 in 5 for Every Season: 165 Quick Dinners, Sides, Holiday Dishes, and More” at his restaurant, which is near Concourse B in the airside terminal. Passengers also can get autographed recipe cards for his turkey cooked in cheesecloth.

“Not only are we excited to have Chef Symon back in Pittsburgh, it will be a special privilege to welcome these brave men and women who serve our country,” says Jay Kruisselbrink, senior vice president of Airmall, the developer and manager of the airport’s shopping center.

“We’re honored that Bar Symon is hosting such a remarkable group for breakfast,” adds Ben Rababy, vice president of UCG.

Symon’s visit also will kick off Paradies Lagardère’s annual Treat Our Troops program, during which military personnel will get a free menu item and beverage at the company’s restaurants Nov. 23-27. Active and retired military personnel can show their military ID to take advantage of the deal.

“Treat Our Troops is our way of serving our military members in appreciation for serving us all year long,” says Gregg Paradies, president and CEO of Paradies Lagardère. “We’re grateful that Chef Symon will be joining us to kick off the program.”

Symon also will make an appearance at Washington Dulles International (IAD) on Nov. 23, where he’ll host another meet-and-greet and book signing.

The meet and greet will be at 9:30 a.m. in the main terminal pre-security to commemorate the arrival of the National Thanksgiving Turkey; at 11 a.m., Symon will host the book signing at Bar Symon, located post-security in Concourse D, near Gate D14.

“Thanksgiving is a time when families can finally reconnect and celebrate,” says Symon. “We look forward to making the journey home both memorable and enjoyable at Dulles Airport.”

Also to mark the Thanksgiving holiday, IAD and Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA), which are developed and managed by MarketPlace Development, will host “Turkey in the Terminal.” Travelers at IAD will be able to get a copy of Symon’s turkey recipe, and passengers at DCA will get a Thanksgiving recipe from the National Turkey Federation; both recipes will be available in the airports through Nov. 30. In addition, multiple airport restaurants will also be offering turkey-themed dishes.
