Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) this week rolled out a new website and app that provide passengers with security wait times before they arrive at the airport.
The new technology from CrowdVision uses state-of-the-art Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) sensors that measure the reflection of light to gauge wait times.
“Time is valuable, especially at an airport,” said Haley Gentry, CLT acting aviation director. “This is a great tool that enhances the passenger experience by identifying the shortest security checkpoint wait time with a glance at your phone.”
The pilot project will be run through next spring, while the airport explores and evaluates a permanent wait-time reporting system.
