CLT Opens Terminal Lobby Expansion

Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) unveiled the crown jewel of its 90,000 square feet Terminal Lobby Expansion’s east side by unveiling the new home for the bronze statue of Queen Charlotte.

The 3,000-pound, 15-foot-tall bronze sculpture will be the first thing arriving CLT passengers see as they approach baggage claim.

“It’s a wonderful day as Queen Charlotte is back to welcome visitors to her city once again,” said CLT CEO Haley Gentry. “Through all the construction, the development and growth, Queen Charlotte has been the constant. We are thrilled to bring her back inside so she can faithfully watch as we continue to build an Airport fit for the Queen.”

When it formally opens in the coming weeks, CLT’s Terminal Lobby Expansion’s east side will feature features large, picturesque windows, terrazzo flooring throughout, bright blue tiles framing the entrances/exits and architectural-detailed scalloped ceilings.
