CLT Travelers Can Now Satisfy Sushi Cravings

Charlotte Douglas International (CLT) has added sushi to its lunch and dinner offerings, thanks to HMSHost Corp.

An array of sushi from Hissho Sushi is being made fresh daily and
served at the newly renovated First in Flight Bar, which can be found
post-security in the main terminal atrium.

“The exceptional quality of a brand like Hissho Sushi adds variety to
our food and beverage program and is another example of how we are
listening to the desires of our passengers,” says Jerry Orr, aviation
director. “HMSHost is an essential partner in our concession program.
We would not have been able to do this without them.”

Hissho Sushi and HMSHost’s chefs created a sushi menu that gives
airport travelers a sense of place, including the CLT Roll, which has
spicy salmon, cucumber and jalapeé±o, topped with sliced white tuna
wasabi aioli and spicy may, and the Queen Charlotte Roll, which is
tempura shrimp, green leaf lettuce, avocado, asparagus and capelin roe,
served with a masago sauce. For those who want the more traditional,
nigiri, sashimi and maki rolls are also available.

“Working closely with HMSHost and the Charlotte Airport, we developed
an innovative concept that stresses convenience for busy travelers
on-the-go,” comments Hissho Sushi Director Aaron Petrosky. “The custom
bar contains a built in grab-and-go refrigerated sushi case providing a
wide variety of sushi and maximum convenience for travelers to dine-in
or enjoy fresh sushi on the plane.”

“We are always looking for ways to make the traveler’s day better with
delicious and healthy menu options,” says Pat Banducci, senior vice
president of business development for HMSHost. “Judging by the
enthusiastic reception, Hissho Sushi is fast becoming a favorite of
Charlotte Douglas travelers.”
